Triple front page investigation into fast fashion

European firms are dumping 37 million items of junk plastic clothing in Kenya every year that are too dirty or damaged to be reused, creating serious health and environmental problems for vulnerable communities, an investigation of trade data and conditions on-the-ground has found. The report for the Changing Markets Foundation was covered by more 330 media outlets, including El Pais, Corriere della Sera, the Daily Mail, Le Figaro and Der Spiegel. Picture editors were impressed with the quality of the visuals, which made it onto at least three front pages. There was virtually no push back from the trading firms involved.

The Changing Markets team had invested a good deal of time and resource into this investigation, which included translation into four languages, high quality report design, graphics, a package of photos and video. The content needed a moderate amount of finishing and packaging for media consumption, which the team tolerated, having experienced a string of disappointing report launches with communications agencies.

This is perhaps the most media coverage we’ve had for any report.
