Researchers from Stanford University and PSE Healthy Energy took air pollution measurements in Amsterdam homes in recent weeks, part of a study to understand the risks of domestic gas cookers in more detail than ever before.
The team wanted to raise public awareness of their work, so were happy to win a front page story in the city’s most-read newspaper. This probably traded on the high profile of the university, combined with the widespread use of gas stoves in the Netherlands. The research will be published in a scientific journal in the coming months.
