Air pollution from fossil fuel and wood use for home heating and cooking causes €27 billion a year in health-related costs to society across the EU and UK, a new study for the European Public Health Alliance has found. The study found that wood-based home appliances are the worst offenders for Europe as a whole, responsible for €17 billion (57%) of health-related costs. Read the full press release here.

EPHA’s report was dense, written by a scientific institution and required considerable work to ensure it was understandable to reporters and the public. As usual, the EPHA team were great to work with and we went to press with a sharp press release.
