Home gas cookers cause weekly breaches of air pollution limits, a new study suggests.
The report for the non-profit energy efficiency group CLASP and public health group EPHA suggests that cooking on gas in a typical European kitchen causes indoor nitrogen dioxide pollution that exceeds World Health Organisation air quality guidelines and outdoor EU air pollution standards multiple times each week throughout the year. Read the press release here.
The study was covered by at least 436 media outlets globally, including the Mirror, Corriere Della Sera, La Repubblica, ABC and Le Parisien. The research needed extensive preparation under tight deadlines to be ready for accurate, high profile media reporting. The CLASP team will be back for more, with scores of in-home tests and influencer engagement in the months ahead.
