As a former UK print news journalist, I understand what reporters need to see, when and how. Unusually for freelancers, I love to dig deep, working closely with policy teams to build out a media package and maximise the news value of an NGO report, poll, protest or stunt. This can make the difference between a handful and hundreds of articles at launch, my normal target.

Journalists hate spam. Effective media relations gets tailored materials in front of the right reporters at the right time. This relies on a vibrant media database, not a dusty old commercial database or unloved spreadsheet. After a decade of obsessive curation and studying European media markets, my list of 3,000 journalists centres on environment, health, science, business, foreign and political desks at the most influential national outlets.

After years handling media outreach for European NGOs in Brussels, I'm can take on all aspects of media engagement with little supervision, lightening the load for busy policy teams so they can focus on campaign goals and coordinating with allies. I'm comfortable working across languages, media markets and NGO coalitions.
